Glassmeadow has been published from Singapore since 2019. It is a journal, not a shop, and that distinction shapes everything on it.
Most planted-tank information online is written by people selling something. That does not make it wrong, but it does mean certain answers are structurally unavailable — no shop writes "you do not need this", and no shop recommends the cheap solution that works.
Glassmeadow was started to write the pieces that were missing. The first was about Cryptocoryne melt, because the writer had thrown away three healthy plants believing they had died.
Everything published here comes out of tanks that exist in the flat where the site is written, or out of tanks readers have sent in with their parameters attached. Where we have not tried something, we say so instead of paraphrasing a forum post.
Corrections are made in place with a dated note at the foot of the piece. Several articles carry them. Planted-tank advice ages, and a page that has never been corrected in seven years has not been re-read.
Writing from Singapore has one practical consequence worth flagging: ambient temperature here sits around 28–31°C year round, which is warmer than most planted-tank advice assumes. Where temperature affects a recommendation — CO2 solubility, oxygen at night, which plants sulk in warm water — we note it, because a European reader will get different results from an identical setup.
